9. Business Continuity Plan Creation (BCP)
Aim:
To train business continuity practitioners (or those managers tasked with the job of creating BC plans) to write effective plans for critical processes so the business critical can continue or rapidly recover when disrupted.
Approach:
This is a highly practical and interactive course. Writing quality plans requires research, confidence and engagement since the plan ownership belongs to the people using them.
- The time a BCP is invoked – after relative stability has been achieved by incident management.
- What should be in a plan and what should be taken out?
- Explanation of the relationships between risk, BIA, incident management, continuity and disaster recovery.
- Scale, appropriateness and cost effective planning.
- Options and solutions for critical processes.
- Planning contingencies, alternatives, reserves and protection.
- Software and formats for BCPs.
- Rehearsing and validating plans.
